Method of Raksha Bandhan puja ( रक्षा बंधन की पूजा विधि ) :-
- While tying Rakhi, brother should sit facing east and sister should sit facing west.
राखी बांधते समय भाई पूर्व दिशा की ओर मुख करके बैठे और बहन अपना मुख पश्चिम दिशा की ओर करके रखें। - The sister applies a tilak (a mark made with vermillion) on her brother’s forehead.
बहन अपने भाई के माथे पर तिलक ( सिन्दूर के साथ ) लगाती है। - Sister ties Rakhi on her brother’s right wrist. While tying Rakhi, she prays for the safety and well-being of her brother.
बहन अपने भाई की दाहिनी कलाई पर राखी बांधती है। राखी बांधते समय, वह अपने भाई की सुरक्षा और कल्याण के लिए प्रार्थना करती है। - After tying the Rakhi, the sister offers sweets to her brother, symbolizing the sweetness of their relationship.

Mythology of Raksha Bandhan :-
Draupadi and Lord Krishna ( द्रौपदी और भगवान कृष्ण ) :
One of the most popular stories associated with Raksha Bandhan comes from the Mahabharata. According to the legend, during the great war of Kurukshetra, when Lord Krishna cut his finger, Draupadi tore a piece of her saree and tied it around Krishna’s finger to stop the bleeding. Touched by this gesture, Krishna declared Draupadi as his sister and promised to protect her. When Draupadi was in distress and being humiliated in the Kaurava court, Krishna came to her aid, and the endless saree miracle occurred, ensuring her dignity was protected. This bond between Krishna and Draupadi is often cited as an example of the sacred and protective nature of the relationship between a brother and a sister.
रक्षा बंधन से जुड़ी सबसे लोकप्रिय कहानियों में से एक महाभारत से आती है। पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, कुरुक्षेत्र के महान युद्ध के दौरान, जब भगवान कृष्ण ने अपनी उंगली काट ली थी, तो द्रौपदी ने रक्तस्राव रोकने के लिए अपनी साड़ी का एक टुकड़ा फाड़कर कृष्ण की उंगली पर बांध दिया था। इस भाव से प्रभावित होकर, कृष्ण ने द्रौपदी को अपनी बहन घोषित किया और उसकी रक्षा करने का वादा किया। जब द्रौपदी संकट में थी और कौरव दरबार में अपमानित हो रही थी, तो कृष्ण उसकी सहायता के लिए आए, और अंतहीन साड़ी चमत्कार हुआ, जिससे उसकी गरिमा की रक्षा सुनिश्चित हुई। कृष्ण और द्रौपदी के बीच के इस बंधन को अक्सर भाई और बहन के बीच के रिश्ते की पवित्र और सुरक्षात्मक प्रकृति के उदाहरण के रूप में उद्धृत किया जाता है।
Indra and Sachi ( इंद्र और शची ) :
Another mythological story related to Raksha Bandhan involves the king of gods, Indra, and his wife, Sachi. It is said that during a battle between gods and demons, Indra was facing a tough situation. In desperation, Indra’s wife, Sachi, went to Lord Vishnu and sought his help. Lord Vishnu gave her a sacred thread, and Sachi tied it around Indra’s wrist. With the power of the sacred thread, Indra successfully defeated the demons. This incident is considered the origin of the tradition of tying a protective thread (rakhi) to ensure well-being and victory.
रक्षा बंधन से जुड़ी एक और पौराणिक कहानी में देवताओं के राजा इंद्र और उनकी पत्नी शची शामिल हैं। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि देवताओं और राक्षसों के बीच युद्ध के दौरान इंद्र को कठिन परिस्थिति का सामना करना पड़ रहा था। हताशा में इंद्र की पत्नी शची भगवान विष्णु के पास गईं और उनसे मदद मांगी। भगवान विष्णु ने उसे एक पवित्र धागा दिया और शची ने उसे इंद्र की कलाई पर बांध दिया। पवित्र धागे की शक्ति से, इंद्र ने राक्षसों को सफलतापूर्वक हराया। इस घटना को खुशहाली और जीत सुनिश्चित करने के लिए रक्षा सूत्र (राखी) बांधने की परंपरा की उत्पत्ति मानी जाती है।
