Parashurama Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is observed on Tritiya (the third lunar day) during the Shukla Paksha of the Vaishakha month. According to tradition, Parashurama was born during Pradosh Kaal; therefore, the day on which Tritiya coincides with this period is chosen for the celebration.
परशुराम जयंती भगवान विष्णु के छठे अवतार का जन्मोत्सव है। यह वैशाख महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष की तृतीया (तीसरी चंद्र तिथि) को मनाई जाती है। परंपरा के अनुसार, परशुराम का जन्म प्रदोष काल में हुआ था; इसलिए, जिस दिन तृतीया तिथि इस काल के साथ पड़ती है, उसी दिन यह उत्सव मनाया जाता है।
The purpose of this incarnation was to free the Earth from the burden of corrupt, destructive, and unrighteous rulers who exploited its resources and failed in their responsibilities as kings.
इस अवतार का उद्देश्य पृथ्वी को उन भ्रष्ट, विनाशकारी और अधर्मी शासकों के बोझ से मुक्त कराना था, जिन्होंने पृथ्वी के संसाधनों का शोषण किया और राजा के रूप में अपने कर्तव्यों को निभाने में असफल रहे।
According to Hindu belief unlike all other avatars Parashurama still lives on the Earth. Therefore, unlike Rama and Krishna, Parashurama is not worshipped. In South India, at the holy place Pajaka near Udupi, one major temple exists which commemorates Parashurama. There are many temples at the western coast of India which are dedicated to Lord Parashurama.
हिंदू मान्यताओं के अनुसार, अन्य सभी अवतारों के विपरीत, परशुराम आज भी पृथ्वी पर जीवित हैं। इसलिए, राम और कृष्ण के विपरीत, परशुराम की पूजा नहीं की जाती है। दक्षिण भारत में, उडुपी के निकट स्थित पवित्र स्थान ‘पाजका’ में एक प्रमुख मंदिर है, जो परशुराम को समर्पित है। भारत के पश्चिमी तट पर भी ऐसे अनेक मंदिर हैं, जो भगवान परशुराम को समर्पित हैं।
The Kalki Purana states that Parashurama will be the martial guru of Shri Kalki, the 10th and final Avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is not the first time that 6th Avatar of Lord Vishnu will meet another Avatar. According to Ramayana, Parashurama came to the betrothal ceremony of Sita and Lord Rama and met the 7th Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
‘कल्कि पुराण’ के अनुसार, परशुराम ही भगवान विष्णु के दसवें और अंतिम अवतार—श्री कल्कि—के युद्ध-गुरु होंगे। यह कोई पहली बार नहीं है कि भगवान विष्णु का छठा अवतार किसी अन्य अवतार से मिलेगा। ‘रामायण’ के अनुसार, परशुराम सीता और भगवान राम के विवाह समारोह में पधारे थे और वहाँ उनकी भेंट भगवान विष्णु के सातवें अवतार से हुई थी।

Parashurama is honored as the eternal Brahmin-warrior, an exemplar of discipline and righteousness. His legends influence regional traditions—particularly in Kerala and Konkan, where he is credited with reclaiming land from the sea. His life bridges the domains of asceticism and valor, symbolizing divine intervention to correct human imbalance.
